The Higgins Join Cancer Fundraiser The BCCMA, The Yale and all his friends proudly present the Mike Norman Concert/Fundraiser! The fundraiser is in support of cancer research. The concert will include performances from artists and bands that Mike Norman has played with over the years including Chilliwack, Aaron Pritchett, One More Girl, The Higgins, Rick Tippe, The Lyin' Bastards, David Wills, David Gogo, Jim Byrnes, Shaun Verreault, Dr Strangelove and a few surprise guests! The evening will be hosted by Mike's good friend, local funnyman, Will Davis. All dollars raised will go towards the BC Cancer Foundation in Surrey, BC where Mike received excellent care during his treatments.

FREE LIKE LOVE CONTEST! Help us wish everyone a Happy Valentine's Day in our online video for FREE LIKE LOVE! If you haven't heard, we've got a brand new single, "Free Like Love," and we thought we could do something extra special with it for Valentine's Day. We want you to send us a photo of yourself wishing someone you care about a Happy Valentine's Day. We'll choose the best photos to be part of an online video that will debut on YouTube on February 10. Be creative! Don't worry, we'll let you know if you make the cut.

NEW SINGLE FROM THE HIGGINS! The eagerly awaited sophomore album is on its way and the debut single is here! The Higgins released "Free Like Love" to radio stations across Canada today. This week The Higgins are shooting a video for "Free Like Love" with award-winning Director, Stephano Barberis (Arkadia Productions) that will be delivered to CMT soon. Find your local radio station in our radio stations list to request "Free Like Love" today! "Free Like Love" will be available on iTunes soon. Until then you can preview a clip in our Music Player. Casting Call Announcement! The Higgins and Arkadia Pictures are looking for volunteer extras to be in The Higgins' next music video which will be airing on CMT and various other media outlets. They are looking for males and females between the ages of 14-32 for a large group scene to watch and cheer as The Higgins perform their hit new song. Please send a photo to the Producer, Alex Galanis at alex@arkadiapictures.com. Only those selected for the video will be contacted. The non-union music video will be shot in the Lower Mainland (Vancouver, BC) on Tuesday, January 12th, 2010 and will require approximately 5 hours of your time. The scene will begin in late afternoon or early evening. Specific details of this portion of the shoot are still being finalized, but if selected you will be notified with all relevant information. The Higgins To Perform at Craven Country Jamboree 2010 Craven Country Jamboree organizers took another step towards completing the roster of acts for the 2010 festival by adding Emerson Drive, the Oak Ridge Boys and The Higgins to the lineup. The 2010 festival, which is scheduled for July 15 - 18, will feature Kenny Chesney (Sunday night headliner), McBride (Saturday night headliner), Jason Aldean (Friday night headliner), Miranda Lambert, Kevin Costner & Modern West, Charley Pride, Diamond Rio, and many more. The Higgins To Perform at Country 107.1 Breakfast Broadcast The Higgins will be performing along with Damian Marshall and AJ Woodworth at Country 107.1's Christmas Breakfast & Broadcast. Steve Fanning will be broadcasting the More Music Morning Show live from Rockwell's Bar & Grill in Mission, BC. Country 107.1 will be collecting donations for the Mission Christmas Bureau, and there will be free coffee and a light breakfast for everyone who brings down a donation. The Higgins To Perform at JRFM Breakfast Announced this morning by JRFM's Waking Crew - Clay St.Thomas and Karen Daniels - The Higgins will be performing along with Aaron Pritchett, Jessie Farrell and Paul Brandt at the annual Basics for Babies Breakfast. This great fundraiser will be held at the Sheraton Vancouver Guildford Hotel in Surrey, BC. Feature on Global Morning News In advance of the BC Country Music Association Awards, where The Higgins have 14 nominations, John, Eileen, and Kathleen will be featured in a segment on Global Morning News. The feature will include their lively interview with the legendary, Red Robinson. Watch for it Wednesday morning (Oct 21st) sometime around 8:00am PST. Kathleen is a Guest Judge on Karaoke Star Watch out country karaoke hopefuls- our sister Kat is joining the judging panel on this week's episode of Karaoke Star on CMT! Also joining her to critique this round is our good friend Aaron Pritchett. The finals are being held in gorgeous Banff, AB, and will air this Thursday night at 8 pm Pacific, with encore showings TBA. Back in BC, we're getting ready for the BCCMA Awards, happening this coming weekend. We'll be performing at the Director's Awards Saturday night, and then on the Sunday Awards Show at the Red Robinson Theatre, where we'll be debuting a brand new song!! BCCMA Awards Nominations Announced The B.C. Country Music Association (BCCMA) just released the list of nominees for it's 33rd Annual Awards Show, and we're stunned to find out that The Higgins and team are included in an amazing 14 different categories! This is a little overwhelming and a huge compliment considering it's coming from our music industry peers in our own home province! We've been nominated as a group for Entertainer of The Year, Fan's Choice Award, Group/Duo of The Year, Single of The Year (for Second Hand Car), Traditional Country, Roots/Canadiana, and SOCAN Song of The Year! Plus, John is nominated for All-Star Band (guitar) and Eileen for Special Instrument (mandolin). In addition, two of our band members - Kyle Radomsky and Dennis Marcenko - are nominated for Drums and Bass respectively, and our producers Paul Shatto and David Wills are up for Producer of The Year. Also, Stephano Barberis is up for Video Director of The Year for Real Thing, and our webmaster Maria Higgins is up for Web Designer of The Year. To top it off, we've been asked to perform on the show as part of a killer lineup, which includes Crystal Shawanda, Aaron Pritchett, Jessie Farrell, Ridley Bent, One More Girl and Jaydee Bixby. The main Awards Show will be held Sunday evenin,g October 25th, at the Red Robinson Theatre in Coquitlam, with the Industry Awards the night before at The George Preston Centre in Langley. CMT on Tour TV Special This summer CMT took Canadian country stars Jason Blaine, The Higgins,Tara Oram & Steven Lee Olsen on the road to 19 cities across the nation. The Higgins on Country Hits 2009 Volume 2 The Higgins Nominated for 3 CCMA Awards! We're elated to get the news that we've been given three nominations in the 2009 CCMA's! The categories are GROUP/DUO OF THE YEAR, ROOTS ARTIST OF THE YEAR, and SPECIAL INSTRUMENT (Eileen for mandolin). Also, our good friend Stephano Barberis is nominated as DIRECTOR OF THE YEAR for the video of our single, 'Second Hand Car'! Earlier, we got word that we've been nominated for COUNTRY RECORDING OF THE YEAR for our CD 'Real Thing' at this year's Western Canada Music Awards, to be held in Brandon MB in September. CMT's filming of us at Merritt Mountainfest and the Merritt Walk of Stars airs this weekend!
